Mac
March 2006 - January 2023
Mac. Mac daddy. Fatty Mac. Mackerdoodle. Foofinator. His given name was Macavity, but he went by many other nicknames. To most people, though, he was Mac. He came into my life as a tiny little kitten at the humane society in Florida who had been separated from his mom too early and didn’t even know how to clean himself. But, he was feisty and snuggly and I knew immediately that he was going to be my buddy. He was by my side through two cross country road trips, three deployments, 9 different houses, the adoption of a puppy, pregnancy/birth/infancy/toddlerhood of a human, and a move to Hawaii! Mac was a character: he met us at the door after a long day at work; he played fetch; he went outside on his harness & leash; he loved the sound of his own voice; he freaked out if he saw the bottom of his food bowl; he roughhoused with a Golden Retriever; and he allowed even the youngest of humans to engage with him and even carry him around. He was my buddy for nearly 17 years and he will be in our hearts forever as we look for him in the rainbows.
